California Community College Transfer Guide

After Applying

During the month of January, update your online application with your fall semester grades and planned coursework for the winter/spring/summer semester(s). In March, acceptance letters will be sent out, after you have been informed of your acceptance to the university you will be required to submit a Statement of Intent to Register, which is typically due in May/June. Prior to enrolling for your fall classes, you’ll be required to send in official transcripts from all the institutions you have attended.

Furthermore, both before and after applying take the time to research the institution you want to transfer to. By doing so, you’ll expose yourself to the institutional culture, student and faculty demographics, the mission statement and requirements for graduation. This information will help you form a better picture of the school and whether it will be a good fit or not. The last thing you want is to be disappointed with the school after going through the entire transfer process. Look for online communities or campus organizations that help connect prospective students with students, faculty and alumni. By connecting and networking, you will engage in conversations and will be exposed to information that is unique to the institution and will better understand ways to navigate the system.

Always remember to have a positive outlook, with the right amount of motivation and determination you will be able to fulfill the requirements and have a smooth transition into the university of your choice.
