Central Washington University is a public university that grants bachelor's and master's degrees. The university is located in Ellensburg, Washington, a small historic city situated just east of the Cascade Mountains. The area is ideal for students who enjoy outdoor activities. Seattle is a two-hour drive to the east and Spokane is three hours to the west. The university also has six off-site centers located throughout Washington State. Students can choose from over 100 majors and numerous pre-professional programs. Business and education are both extremely popular among undergraduates. On the athletic front, the CWU Wildcats compete in the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Minimum GPA for Applying:
Generally, transfer students who have completed at least 40 college-level transferable credits with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and/or have earned a Washington State community college Direct Transfer Associates Degree will be admissible. If your GPA is between a 2.0 and a 2.49, your application will go through the Comprehensive Review Process.

Minimum Grades for Transfer:
The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is a D or higher.

Credits (Min/Max):
Students may transfer up to 135 quarter credits to CWU, with a maximum of 105 credits from lower division (100-200 level) courses.

Test Scores for Applying:
If you have less than 40 transferrable credits, the submission of official standardized test scores is required.

Letters of Recommendation Required:
A statement of good standing from your prior institution is required for admission consideration.

Essay(s) required:
You will need to complete the essay portion of the application if your cumulative GPA is below 2.5 from any previous college attended and/or: your Admissions Index is below 28; your high school GPA is below 3.0; you are missing any core classes.
