Authorized by the Texas Legislature in 1969 as an upper level university offering junior, senior, and graduate level programs, UT Permian Basin achieved four-year status and began offering freshman level classes in September of 1991. The University of Texas of the Permian Basin is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate and masters degrees. Our mission is to provide quality education to all qualified students in a supportive educational environment; to promote excellence in teaching, research, and service; and to serve as a resource for the intellectual, social, economic, and technological advancement of the diverse constituency in Texas and the region.

Minimum GPA for Applying:
UTPB has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.0 for transfer.

Minimum Grades for Transfer:
UTPB has a minimum grade requirement of "C" for transfer.

Credits (Min/Max):
There is a 24 minimum credit requirement. A max of 66 credits are accepted from 2-yr. The max from a 4-yr is unlimited, but you must complete 30 at UTPB to earn a bachelors degree.

Test Scores for Applying:
The submission of SAT/ACT scores may be required of some transfer students.

Letters of Recommendation Required:
UTPB may require a statement of good standing from your previously attended institution.

Essay(s) required:
UTPB requires a statement of purpose with your application which will provide an opportunity to explain any extenuating circumstances that you feel could add value to your application. There are two other optional essay questions.

Application Fee:
Nonrefundable application fees vary (between $0 and $60) depending on the institution from which you transfer.

Other Requirements:
Transfer students may apply through the registration dates; however, to provide better advisement to students we strongly recommended that the application and all required material be submitted no later than 30 days prior to the date of enrollment.
