Hello!

Welcome to Transferweb.com, thanks so much for signing up!

Our goal here is to help as many students as much as possible with the process of transferring colleges. We’re a small site run by a few people that care a lot about transfer students.

We’re constantly working on improving the site, so (1) pardon any “dust” and (2) let us know what we can do to make it better for you!

To help you get the most out of this site here are some quick recommendations:

1. Got questions? Post them in the forums. We (the founders) have personally committed to answering every question there as best as we can within a day or so (usually within a few hours).

2. Check out our articles. We have close to a hundred articles on transferring, and we pride ourselves on the very specific and accurate information we provide. If you have any questions about the articles, leave a comment! We’re working on more resources for transfer students everyday. Up next: the most comprehensive directory of transfer-specific information on the internet.

3. Make some friends! If you go to our Members page, you can search for other members based on colleges they’re interested in applying to, and whether they’re community college or four-year college students. Transferring can be a lonely process and in our research we’ve found that it helps a lot to meet other people in the same boat. We’re also working on building an automatic friend suggestor to help connect people. The more information you have on your profile, the easier it will be for you to make connections.

4. Check out our transfer-specific college directory. It’s the most comprehensive directory of transfer information on the internet, and we’re working every day to make it even more clean, usable, and up-to-date.

5. Let us know how we can help you! Seriously! If you have any suggestions about additions or improvements we can make to the site, let Chris (co-founder) know (either in a comment, on the forums, or in a message), and we’ll build it.

As you participate on the site, you’ll start to accumulate points. You can read about the points you’ve accumulated and how to earn more under the “Points” tab under your profile. Our plan is to reward people that really participate (by asking questions, commenting, etc.) with things like free confidential reviews of their transfer applications.

The goal is to get a lot of information about transferring out into the open, since people don’t talk about it often enough.

You should receive this message in your inbox too, just in case.

Thanks again!
Chris

P.S. In case you’re interested, we also wrote a couple of books about transferring colleges. Perhaps you noticed the subtle ads on the site? 🙂

They have real stats and essays of students that transferred to Columbia, Penn, Stanford, and other schools, and people seem to love them (all the reviews of the books are real). They’re the main way we support the site and forums.
