Description

Glenville State College, often referred to as the Lighthouse on the Hill, is West Virginia's only centrally located public college.

Founded in 1872 to provide instruction and practice for common school teachers in the science of education, Glenville State College has surpassed its original mission, and currently prepares students for careers in teaching, business, land resources, music, the liberal arts, the sciences, criminal justice, and human services.

With an enrollment of approximately 1,400 students, the college has a student to faculty ratio of 19 to 1. The college's enrollment is made up of many first generation students with approximately 90% of the students coming from West Virginia counties.

Minimum GPA for Applying:
Students who transfer to Glenville State College from another college must have an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on all course work completed at Glenville State College as one of the criteria for graduation.

Minimum Grades for Transfer:
Glenville State does not publish a minimum grade requirement for transfer credit.

Credits (Min/Max):
At least 64 and no more than 72 hours of credit completed at West Virginia community and technical colleges or regional campuses are transferable to Glenville State. Exceptions to the 72 hour rule may only be made by the Provost & Senior Vice President.

Test Scores for Applying:
Official ACT/SAT scores are required if you have fewer than 28 hours of college coursework.

Letters of Recommendation Required:
Glenville State does not publish a requirement for letters of recommendation.
